No long cables through the mast, but wireless!
The new NASA CLIPPER wind measurement system works without any cables in the mast. The receiver unit mounted below deck sends the wind direction and speed to the CLIPPER display or any other NMEA0183-compatible display via a cable connection, e.g. to your
Chart plotter.
The receiver is supplied with voltage via the 12 V on-board network, the mast unit only needs occasional bright daylight to charge the transmitter's battery via the integrated solar cell. With a fully charged battery, it can operate for 2,000 hours without recharging.
